For nearly two years, I was involved behind the scenes at one of the world’s most exclusive resorts - Amangiri.
Mostly, pictures and stories of this place that are circulated, come from celebrities, influencers or architecture blogs. My story is a bit of a different one.
love supporting clients who share their wisdom, especially when it comes to health and wellness. When Jess, of Living Rhythm, contacted me with her vision for her Ayurveda business, I immediately started dreaming up our shoot.
She sent me inspiration from sites that share a similar aesthetic - that organic coastal feel, unfussy, raw but intentional. Muted tones and natural fabrics and textures, imagery that instantly instills the essence of this nurturing modality.
As a photographer, I’d always hear people tell me that when they look at my work, they get a feeling of zen. And it was funny because that’s not something I specifically intended to go for, nor is it part of my personality, but throughout the years of following what I was drawn to aesthetically, this feel naturally derived as something I needed in my life. Maybe that feeling of ‘zen’ is what I myself was looking for and gave myself, through my work.
I recently got a chance to experiment with (read: shoot and consume) with the entire line of incredible adaptogens from Root & Bones. The owner, Alyssa, is a long time friend and my go-to for acupuncture. She is an incredible human and healer.
Branding photography is such a unique opportunity - since an image is said to be worth a thousand words, getting to capture a brand in images should tell an entire story about it, without saying a word.
Every once in a while, I come across dream clients that not only give me trust and full creative freedom and flow, but who are also incredible humans that ignite an instant desire to become friends. Such was the case with Alexandra and her team. Beautiful women, inside and out.
One of my favorite times to be behind the lens is when I get to work with other creative. For this shoot with Zen Ridge, designer extraordonaire Sarah Lesher acted as my co-stylist and creative director on set, where we produced images that, to date, are high up on both of our lists of favorite shoots. Ever.
This woman, this family. Aren’t they delightful? And you should meet them. The best kind of people.
When I get to capture days like this, I feel I’m in the right vocation. A simple day, intentional time together. No props, no poses, no fuss. Just being together. And me trying to be a fly on the wall. Or the sand in this case.
Cathy French is not only a wonderful yoga teacher who became my friend after taking her class at Tosha Yoga Studio in Arcata, but now also my go to person for Reiki healing. I had the wonderful opportunity of capturing Cathy in her magic, for her brand relaunch, scheduled this month!
I highly recommend you go over to her website and check out her incredible offerings, which included yoga, meditation & the best yoga nidra you’ll experience.
Papa & Barkley, a Humboldt based cannabis wellness product company, has been on my radar since discovering their Releaf Balm a while back. Not only was I a fan of the play on words in the name, but once I saw this product actually works, I’ve became an even bigger fan.
As a photographer, one of the best ways to build a portfolio I found, is attending workshops. Though when I started as film shooter, almost all workshops I could find were in the wedding world. And that was no longer the world I wanted to be in (I gave it a go, it just wasn’t for me and that’s ok.
Enter Loom. A workshop based lead by the absolutely incredible Ginny Au, where slow living and intention seep into every detail. I knew I had to be part of it.
Suzanne’s class can feel like church. This woman, is a poet and a yoga instructor, mixed into one. I always feel elated after each class. And when she asked if I could capture that feeling I know so well, through my lens, I was more than happy to sign up.
