Quarantine Self-Care Practice

Quarantine has been quite the rollercoaster, I’m sure this time is crazy for everyone else in the world right now too. I do have to admit, I am privileged to be safe in my little apartment. My family is across the pond and I probably should check in more, though I taking this time very seriously as far as my wellbeing goes.

I decided to consider I’m in wellness bootcamp, and focus everything I can on my emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing. Selfish as that might sound, how can I serve the world, be a better daughter/sister/ friend, if I’m not solid in myself? If I feel depleted, if I react and project? If I act out of fear, rather than love?

The only way I feel I can show up, during quarantine and after this is over, as my best self, is if that’s where my intentional focus goes every day, while we’re in this.

Here are the 5 things I’m doing for myself today:

  • I’m staying in bed, listening to the Sakara Life podcast while finishing my bowl of buckwheat porridge. Next to me, my Vitruvi is softly diffusing rose and lavender essential oils.

  • also staying hydrated (I had a little too much wine last night for the first time in like 3 months?! bad idea, now I remember why I don’t drink) inside - good water is so essential, you guys!- and out. By that, I mean I’m currently obsessively lathering on this grounding botanical cream (in the post picture) from 3rd Ritual. It’s got notes of pink pepper, cardamom and vetiver - such a soothing combo. Needed that today.

  • I’m working out to my favorite online class everrrrrr from The Class. (They currently have a free trial and I highly recommend giving it a try, it’ll help you not just move your body but also move stagnant emotion through and give you messages that will help cope with life - and corona - so much better).

  • meditating. Today will mark my 38th consecutive day of The Art of the Radiant Woman from Desiree Pais. I’m new to kundalini though I’m starting to feel a shift already. I do feel more radiant, no, really! But from the inside out. Plus, “kundalini arms” is a real thing, I learned. And mine are definitely feeling the work. Don’t know how to meditate? There are a bagillion free options online and one I use daily is the Insight Timer app. No time like the present to start your practice. Satnam.

  • I’m taking my dog for a well deserved long walk. The sun finally came out as I’m typing this.

With that, I’ll leave you lovelies to your day. Hope you find ways to enjoy it, and make it deliberate.
